Mercedes Martinez

Mercedes Martinez graduated in 2023 with a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona and is now pursuing an M.S. in Environmental Science with a hopeful graduation of May 2026. Her research interests surround conservation and restoration but with a passion in protecting wildlife and ecosystems. Currently, her master’s project examines soil health restoration of rangelands in southern Arizona using rock placement strategies. Although her expertise is in soil science, she looks forward to working with others in the fellowship to expand her knowledge on ecological indicators to support water quality and aquatic life, especially amid water shortage concerns in Arizona.
