Jenny Bacon
Jenny Bacon is an Oak Ridge Institute of Science Education (ORISE) research assistant with the USGS SW CASC based in Denver, Colorado. She is interested in working towards resilient food and water systems for community climate change adaptation. Before initially joining as an ORISE fellow working on the storylines aspect of the Arctic Rivers Project in Alaska, she interned at the National Renewable Energy Lab. Here, she assisted in research focused on the food-energy-water nexus and the sustainability of controlled environment agriculture as compared to traditional methods of vegetable cultivation in resource-stressed regions of the United States. Previously, she worked as a water infrastructure intern with the City and County of Denver where she often engaged community members on water quality concerns.
Jenny has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a master’s in Humanitarian Engineering and Science from Colorado School of Mines.
