The SW CASC Welcomes New Member to Communications Team
Erin Thompson has joined the SW CASC as a Science Communications and Program Associate. In this role, Erin will assist with communications regarding SW CASC activities, projects, and events.
Erin is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where she majored in environmental studies and multimedia journalism. Throughout her college career, Erin had a clear interest in science communication, especially related to climate change, agriculture, and the impacts of human activity on local landscapes. While studying at UW Oshkosh, Erin worked for the Sustainability Institute for Regional Transformations as a Research and Operations intern where she assisted with sustainability projects, campus communications, and event planning. Erin also worked seasonally for 1,000 Islands Environmental Center in Kaukauna, Wisconsin as their Goat Program Coordinator. In this position she was tasked with management of and communications about a goat herd that browsed invasive buckthorn within the 1,000 Islands nature conservancy.
Erin grew up in Iola, a small town in rural central Wisconsin where she learned the importance of having a connection to nature and practicing land stewardship. She currently lives in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and works remotely with the SW CASC.
