KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Karen O'Brien, University of Oslo

The Human Dimensions: They Matter More Than You Think!

Dr. O’Brien is Professor of Sociology and Geography at the University of Oslo, recognized for her work on climate and society, including vulnerability, adaptation and climate impacts.  Her books include Climate and Society: Transforming the Future and Double Exposure: Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change Within the Context of Economic Globalization, both coauthored with Robin Leichenko and You Matter More Than You Think: Quantum Social Change for a Thriving World.  A coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Karen is the new co-chair of the Transformative Change Assessment of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

A panel discussion will follow featuring Dr. Miriam Gay-Antaki, Dr. Robin Leichenko, Dr. Maria Carmen Lemos, Dr. Megan Mills Novoa, Dr. Erika Trigoso, and Dr. Margaret Wilder.

Refreshments will follow in the ENR2 courtyard.
