Check Out the 2022 CASC Year in Review!

The National Climate Adaptation Science Center recently released their CASC 2022 Year in Review which includes milestone awards, science, and partnerships from each of the nine regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers. The purpose of the Review is to highlight the various innovative research projects and collaborations within the CASC Network. 

Key Southwest CASC-affiliated achievements, science, and partnerships were featured in the Review. In 2022 Southwest CASC co-investigator, Beth Rose Middleton (UC Davis), was named an Andrew Carnegie Fellow for her project, “Healing Rivers, Communities, and Homelands: Indigenous Leadership in 21st-Century Dam Removal and River Restoration in North America.” The project recognizes Indigenous leadership in dam removals as central to truth, reconciliation, and climate adaptation. The Review also spotlighted the Colorado River Science Wiki, a new online platform that summarizes and shares the most recent Colorado River research, increases visibility of the activities of the research community, and makes accessible important datasets and tools. The Wiki was created by SW CASC researchers, including co-investigator Brad Udall (Colorado State University). CASC partnerships were also highlighted, including the work of the Southwest Fire and Climate Adaptation Partnership (SWFireCAP), an open and inclusive group of partners with a shared vision for working together to advance fire and climate adaptation in the southwestern U.S.

The 2022 CASC Year in Review emphasized how the Network continues to find new ways to create and share climate adaptation science with resource managers and users. The full 2022 Year in Review GeoNarrative is available on the USGS website.
