Nina Fontana

Nina Fontana is a research faculty member at the University of California, Davis, in collaboration with the USGS Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center. She is a community-engaged ecologist committed to fostering inclusive, transdisciplinary research, education, and policy initiatives. With a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California Davis, Nina brings over a decade of extensive national and international experience collaborating closely with diverse Indigenous and rural communities. She is passionate about working together to find practical ways to support essential stewardship practices in environmental policy and action, while honoring diverse knowledge held by various communities. Her broader research interests include socio-ecological resilience, translational ecology, Indigenous analysis of climate change, and environmental justice.
