The inaugural Southwest Adaptation Forum (SWAF) will take place at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona from Monday, October 29 at 11:30 AM to Wednesday, October 31 at 12:30 PM. The event is by invitation only.
This event is co-hosted by the Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center and the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions, with a special focus on the Interior southwestern states of Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. SWAF is part of the regional adaptation forum network co-led by the American Society of Adaptation Professionals and is associated with the biennial National Adaptation Forum.
The goal of SWAF is to gather climate adaptation and assessment practitioners in the Southwest to share stories, obstacles, and best practices from their work and, together, build a network of partners dedicated to finding integrated, community-based adaptation solutions. Intended outcomes include (1) strengthening existing and building new relationships among partners in the region, (2) identifying gaps in our existing networks, and (3) generating synergy and momentum for future engagement among partners and stakeholder groups.
Registration
Participation in SWAF is by invitation only and space is limited. Please RSVP through our registration site by Friday, August 31:
Travel Assistance
We are doing our best to keep costs manageable for our participants, therefore there is no registration fee and we will be providing light meals. We encourage participants, if they are able to do so, to please cover their own travel and lodging costs.
To further engage our tribal partners and those working in our native communities, we have travel funds available for those who need assistance. We will work directly with this group of participants to make travel arrangements.
To help ensure maximum participation, we have limited funds available for those that might need assistance. These funds will be provided as reimbursements for costs associated with airfare, ground transportation, and/or lodging (per diem and mileage costs are not included).
Please email your request for travel assistance to Anita Govert (agovert@email.arizona.edu) by August 31, 2018. We will circle back to you by September 15 about the status of your request.
