SWCASC Researcher, Michael Kotutwa Johnson appointed to the Bureau of Land Management, Arizona Resource Advisory Council
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Michael Kotutwa Johnson, a valued member of the Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (SWCASC) research team, has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Resource Advisory Council (RAC).
Dr. Kotutwa Johnson, an assistant specialist at the University of Arizona's Indigenous Resiliency Center and School of Natural Resources and the Environment, brings his expertise in natural resources and his lived experience as a member of the Hopi Tribe to this vital role. His appointment to the 15-member council, which advises the BLM on resource and land management across 12.1 million acres of federal land and 36 million acres of subsurface minerals, is a testament to his dedication and knowledge.
All of us here at the SWCASC are delighted to celebrate our fellow researcher on this significant achievement. Congratulations, Michael!
